Human Resources has a handle on all things business management from WHS to managing people. Come and learn about what makes a business tick from Rob Shephard and Clare Mullen from RAW Human Resources.

Who else knows a business better than the bookeeper? Susan Carson from WestBas, knows about the inside workings of running a business and gives useful insights into everything digital for the modern office. Just look at all the units we’re going to cover in this PD Day!!

As requested we’ve invited Steven Payne back. Steven who is employed by Microsoft to work with teachers, will be looking at Desk Top Publishing in MS Word so he will bring along Surface Pro laptops with MS Office 16. Please bring your own laptop if you have MS 16. DET teachers are able to access MS Office 16 through their school.  He’ll also give us the rundown on Office 365.

Steven Payne

Steven is a Microsoft Learning Consultant, and has worked with Microsoft since 2012 delivering seminars and professional learning workshops across Australia.

He has previously worked as a teacher and education consultant, both in Australia and in the UK, supporting schools and jurisdictions to make effective use of ICT and improve learning outcomes. Steven also works part time for the CSER Group, University of Adelaide, supporting teachers in implementing the Digital Technologies curriculum.

Claire Mullen  One of Clare’s roles is as business owner at RAW Human Resources which solves people problems by providing trusted professional HR advice and services to small and medium businesses. In another role, she is the Engagement Manager at Health Consumers’ Council WA which is a non-profit organisation working across the WA health system. In that role she facilitates opportunities for people who use the health system and people who work in it to work together to improve health outcomes for the WA community. Clare provides advice and services in staff and stakeholder engagement, change management, project management and implementation, group and meeting facilitation and event planning, internal and stakeholder communications, and one to one mentoring. 

Rob Shepphard has delivered and led HR services and recruitment in local and international small, medium and large businesses for over 18 years. Having managed the human capabilitiy function on various multi-billion dollar oil and gas projects, Rob was part of ensuring that workplace health and safety was incorporated into the management of people and teams. This includes personally leading elements of an Emergency Response Team and ensuring the practical implementation of safety from inductions to dealing with the end results of healht and safety issues in the workplace.

Susan Carson’s  purpose is to support small to medium size business owners to set up systems that will empower them to get the most out of their business. With extensive experience in the Oil and Gas, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering and the Import & Export sectors, Susan’s experience covers foreign transactions, budgets and cash-flows as well as all manner of Australian tax compliance. Susan will take us through the use of technology in a modern business, how to process and maintain workplace information and organise daily workplace activities and a host of other amazing things.
